About the Artist's Instrument

I love the flexibility of my bassoon as well as the focused sound and singing qualities of the tenor register. Where other instruments can feel unwieldy, almost like an obstacle to overcome, my 201 has always felt very accommodating, like an extension of my voice.

I have always played on a Fox, initially a polypropylene instrument then a student Renard 222D, so I chose the 201 because it had that familiarity I was used to, but also the depth and nuance of sound that would accompany me into the professional world. I was instantly won over, the Model 201 felt effortless and secure yet boundless in its potential for expression.
