Current position(s): Professor of Oboe at Columbus State University’s Schwob School of Music; Acting English Horn and Assistant Principal Oboe of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, oboist and founding member of the Off Broadway Trio

Notable performances/accomplishments:  World premiere of Alyssa Morris’s Chrysalis, rescored for English horn and small chamber orchestra in Columbus, GA (Nov. ’21); Legacy Concerto by Oscar Navarro with the Schwob Wind Ensemble of Columbus State University in Columbus, GA (April ’22); host of IDRS Conference in 2016

Instrument: Fox Sayen Model 880 Maple Oboe

Fun Facts: Susan is a registered Yoga Teacher, RYT 500 and is also certified in Yin Yoga. She teaches 3 Yoga for Performers classes at the Schwob School of Music in addition to the series, ‘Yoga at the Museum’ at the Columbus Museum. When she’s not practicing and making reeds, she loves spending time her husband, Bill, her dog, Porter and their gaggle of chickens! She and her husband are also amateur beekeepers.

About the Artist's Instrument

My maple Sayen oboe is super light and fun to play. It sounds great, has  wonderful projection, and a sound quality that I love!
